A faith-driven Christian manga and animated series inspired by the Book of Revelation.
What is Ascension After?
Ascension After is a faith-driven, anime-inspired universe told through manga and our flagship animated series. The story follows two co-main characters, John the Apostle and Darius Wayman, as they witness the events of the Book of Revelation unfold from two distinct points in time.
John, a humble servant of Jesus Christ, lives in exile on the island of Patmos around 90 A.D., during a period when the early Church faces intense persecution. Having endured his own share of suffering, John is given divine visions revealing the end of reality as we know it, as well as the ultimate redemption and restoration of all things. In this retelling, John not only receives these visions but must also navigate danger on Patmos alongside Gnaeus, a high-spirited young man who serves as his scribe.
Parallel to John’s journey is that of Darius Wayman, a modern-day teenager living in San Francisco with his father and his two best friends, Jaielle Simmons and Brandon Lang. Darius struggles with identity, purpose, and faith following a tragic event that shaped his childhood. His perspective offers a glimpse into what the fulfillment of Revelation could look like in the present day, as he lives through a global catastrophe that plunges the world into chaos and ushers in a period known as The Great Tribulation. As reality itself begins to unravel, Darius and his friends must confront overwhelming adversity while wrestling with their beliefs and the truth of what they are witnessing.
Ultimately, Ascension After is a story of faith, perseverance, and revelation, following John the Apostle and Darius Wayman as they experience the same prophetic events from two vastly different eras—each pointing toward the same inevitable truth.
